Barney's New York had a book signing for Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel on Saturday the 15th. After stuffing my face with a cupcake, I went and stuffed some macarons in my face and met Lisa Immordino Vreeland.
I left my copy at home, but as I was flipping through some magazines I had just bought for a blank page I found an article on her in Bon for her to sign.

She gave me tickets to the screening of the accompanying film screening at the Chicago Film Festival (yay for missing the last three periods of the day! Take that, Scarlet Letter.), which was as unexpected as the popularity of the shake weight (Mrs. Immordino, if you ever read this: thank you, you have no idea how much inspiration you gave me).
About the film:
Pros: - The range of interviews featured. From former assistants to Penelope Tree, Richard Avedon, Franca Sozzani, Lillian Bassman, and HUBERT DE GIVENCHY. When he appeared I, to quote Vreeland, "blew up and died."
- It displayed her humor, wit, strength, and flaws with anecdotes that somehow managed not to sound like an old man at a country club with a cigar bragging about the time he shot a two-ton deer.
- They played "Lady Grinning Soul" by Bowie at the end, with a cartoon of Vreeland flying away with Peter Lindbergh. So weird, it was loverly.
- Vreeland
- It was about Diana Vreeland
- Diana Vreeland was in it
- Diana
- Vreeland
Cons:
- Ummmmmm. Nothing. . . not just saying that to be nice, because we all know I'm not nice anyway.
Buy The Book.
