I know I haven't posted in forever and instead of giving you the excuses that I had finals and got sick (true by the way), I'll try to share my revelation. This whole week, while not taking tests or blowing my nose, I've been watching movies. I'm one of those people who considers seeing movies, going to museums, and reading books education. As, if not more, important than school. Sometimes I want to be Francois Truffaut, who after being expelled a few times from school decided to be self taught at fourteen, with goals like watch three movies a day and read three books a week. Maybe not the expelling. Anyway, then I remember that you can't do that anymore.
I think I've watched over 20 movies this week. I've watched so many wonderful, life-changing movies that I can't possibly try to explain all of them, so I'll try to show you.
Amélie, Little Miss Sunshine, Mic Macs, Somewhere, The Royal Tenenbaums, Juno, The Virgin Suicides, Black Swan, I am Love, The Darjeeling Limited, The King's Speech, The Illusionist (French animated, not the real people one from a couple years ago), Adam's Rib, and Pat and Mike (Katherine Hepburn).
It's hard to describe the way it feels to watch beautiful films. I guess it's you feel like a part of the world, a creative world. Where people love emotions and beauty (which has no definition) and everyone can coexist because they are working towards a common goal which is loving and creating. The world on the screen is one you've always really wanted to go to, you just didn't know it until you saw the film. And then you can't wait to wake up the next morning and see the world through the lens of those movies.
